The Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court yesterday sentenced a Bangladeshi man to 13 months imprisonment for possessing cigarettes of various brands and cash money.

Md Nazim, 37 years old was found to possess 16 cartons and 14 packs of cigarettes of various brands and cash money amounting to $684 at a workers' quarters in the Kampung Mengkubau area. The accused pleaded guilty and was sentenced to $13,760 or 13 months imprisonment in default. The court ordered the accused to settle the fine on the day he was charged.  The defendant failed to settle the fine and was sentenced to 13 months imprisonment starting yesterday. All contraband were seized to be destroyed and cash money from the cigarettes sales proceeds was also seized.
