Laos, Cambodia Vow To Strengthen Tourism Cooperation

(KPL) Lao and Cambodian tourism ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance cooperation on tourism on the sidelines of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (AFT-2022) held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Jan 19.The MoU focuses on the facilitation of cross-border tourism and the easing of immigration procedures to increase people exchange between the two countries.

 

It also emphasizes human resource development and capacity building for tourism organizations of the two countries.

 

Laos’ Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Suansavanh Viyaketh and Cambodian Minister of Tourism Thong Khon also agreed to strengthen cooperation under sub-regional frameworks such as Greater Mekong Sub-region Economic Cooperation, Mekong-Lancang Cooperation, ACMECS, CLMV and CLV.

 

Both sides also expressed satisfaction with the growing cooperation over the past years with the Lao minister speaking highly of the assistance from the Cambodian government, especially its provision of Covid-19 vaccines and other medical equipment to support anti-Covid-19 fight in the Lao PDR.
