VIENTIANE

(KPL) Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment (MPI) Sthabandith Insisiengmay, Ms. Mariam A. KHAN, Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to the Lao PDR signed the Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) 2022-2026, following the launch of the Government of Lao PDR - UNFPA’s 7th Country Programme (CP7) last month.

The CPAP is a live document for implementation of the Country Programme 2022-2026 approved by the UNFPA Executive Board in September 2021.

The CPAP focuses on four priorities: 1). Sexual reproductive health and rights; 2). Adolescents and youth; 3). Gender equality and women’s empowerment; and 4). Population dynamics and Data.

The CP7 will accelerate implementation in these four areas towards the achievement of universal access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights.

The CP7 drew on lessons learnt from previous cycles and data from the Lao 2030 Demographic Study.

It is well aligned with the 9th National Socio-Economic Development Plan 2021-2025, the National commitments to the 25th International Conference on Population Development (ICPD25), and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF).
