 February 24th, 2022  |  13:04 PM  |   285 views

JOHOR BARU

Umno is contesting the lion share of seats in the upcoming state polls with 37 seats, followed by 15 from MCA and 4 from MIC.

State Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad (pic), when announcing the candidates for Umno and MIC, said that while all the candidate list has been finalised, MCA would need time to finalise theirs.

He said that it has not been an easy week for him to finalise the list of candidates.

Meanwhile, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that 80% of the candidates were below 55 years old, while 70 percent were new faces.

"At least 80% of our candidates also have high academic qualifications," he said, urging everyone to work together to ensure all Barisan candidates win the upcoming polls.

Also present at the event at the Umno headquarters include MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
