Vice President Phankham Viphavanh yesterday received a courtesy call from the outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Laos, Mr Daniel A. Clune as the three-year diplomatic mission of the latter has come to an end.

Ambassador Daniel A. Clune presented his credentials to serve as United States Ambassador to the Lao People's Democratic Republic in September 2013.

During the amicable talks at the Presidential Palace in Vientiane, Vice President Phankham praised Ambassador Daniel A. Clune upon the fulfilment of his diplomatic mission in Laos over the past three years which has constituted a significant contribution to strengthening the relations and cooperation between Laos and the United States.

US Ambassador Daniel A. Clune has played an important role in facilitating the historic visit to Laos by US President Barack Obama which has resulted in the upgrading of cooperation between the two countries to comprehensive partnership benefiting a number of areas especially in economics, investment, education, health and culture thus bringing benefits to the people of both countries.

In reply, Ambassador Daniel A. Clune expressed gratitude to Vice President Phankham as well as the Lao government for the support and cooperation extended to him during his diplomatic mission in Laos.
