Indonesia is preparing the evacuation of its citizens from Ukraine overland through Poland and Romania, Foreign Ministry officials have said, as Russia’s attacks on the Eastern European state intensify.
Foreign Ministry citizen protection director Judha Nugraha said on Saturday the ministry had formed a team and prepared aircraft to evacuate Indonesians stranded in Ukraine from neighboring Poland and Romania as flights have been banned from Ukrainian airspace.
The relocation of Indonesian citizens to Poland and Romania “will be carried out as soon as possible” as Indonesia’s authorities continue monitoring developments on the ground.
