JOHOR BARU

The government has developed over 95,000ha of public parks throughout the country within the last 25 years, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Prime Minister added that the government was able to carry out such work through great cooperation from every quarter where the quality of beautiful and peaceful landscape development has sprouted in such parks.

"It is the government's intention for each state to have a public park with the concept of a Federal Park and to increase people's access to landscaped areas.

"The importance of landscape as a component of the social well-being of the people is evidenced by the increasing use of public parks and landscaping spaces throughout the country such as the Bukit Kiara Federal Park," he added.

Ismail Sabri said this in his speech during the National Landscape Day held at Taman Ekoflora here on Saturday (March 5).

He added that data shows the number of visitors to the Bukit Kiara Federal Park recorded an increase of 287.10% in 2021 compared to the previous year.

"This proves the importance of the park being the main recreation space of Keluarga Malaysia during the Covid-19 pandemic," he said.
