A total of 870 fresh Covid-19 cases were confirmed on Sunday, March 6, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
Sunday marked the 5th day in a row that the country’s daily number of Covid-19 cases remained less than 1,000.
It was noted that the National Capital Region, Calabarzon, and Western Visayas had the most number of new cases.
The overall count of confirmed cases increased to 3,667,542. However, only 1.3 percent or 48,793 are still being treated.
Of the active cases, 44,131 are mild infections; 2,693 are in moderate condition; 1,279 are severe; 401 are asymptomatic; and 289 are in critical condition.
Meanwhile, 1,433 more patients recovered from Covid-19, bringing the total to 3,561,726.
The death count jumped to 57,023 with 144 new fatalities.
This also marks the last release of the DOH’s daily case bulletin. Starting Monday, March 7, the DOH will release the Covid-19 case bulletin on a weekly basis.
“Starting March 7… we will be issuing a revised case bulletin kung saan mas magpu-focus na po tayo sa (where we will focus more on) severe and critical cases and the utilization in our ICUs,” said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire during the Malacanang press briefing last March 1.
“Previously, mga case numbers po kasi ang nilalabas natin; mababago na po (we were releasing case numbers; these will be changed). As to the frequency, it is going to be once a week compared to before na araw-araw po ay naglalabas tayo ng case bulletin (that we issue a case bulletin daily),” she added.
