The Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications in its press release has produced statistics focusing on a number of services. The objective of producing statistics is related to the evaluation of the impacts of COVID-19 during Operasi Pulih, Operasi Peralihan and the Early Endemic Phase which involved services such as DART; New Vehicle Registration and Domestic Runner Registration.

Since the introduction of DART services in May 2018, it has showed an encouraging start with a drastic increase of passengers by 457.9 percent in the following year. As COVID-19 pandemic hit the country from March 2020 until December 2021, statistics showed that on average, DART received 7,294 passengers each month. The breakdown of the month-to-month data from March to December 2021 clearly showed that each wave has an impact on the passenger volume trend, followed by the monthly recovery. This was until the outbreak of the second wave in August 2021, which led to a 63.8 percent decrease of passengers and the total stumbled for the next several months.

 Registration of new vehicles was also affected due to uncertainties caused by COVID-19. From March 2020 until January 2022, 25,200 new vehicles were registered at the Land Transport Department. During the first wave of COVID-19, total new vehicle registration was at 4,088. During the second wave, it was at 4,839, and the figure decreased by 57.3 percent from August to November November 2021.

Total application for critical workers in the transportation sector from Operasi Pulih until the Early Endemic Phase was 1,596 involving 17,091 people. The aviation sector had the highest number of application, followed by the maritime and land transport sectors. Apart from that, the Meteorological Department had submitted 19 applications for 193 staff, and related sectors submitted 132 applications for 1,307 staff. For the 3 phases, Operasi Pulih recorded 717 applications for 7,837 critical workers; 349 applications for 3,507 critical workers during Operasi Peralihan; and 528 applications for 5,747 critical workers were processed during the Early Endemic Phase.

 In the infocommunications sector, total application from 4th October 2021 until 15 February 2022 was 505 applications. According to breakdown according to phases, 183 applications were received during Operasi Pulih, 128 applications during Operasi Peralihan 194 applications during the Early Endemic Phase.

For domestic runner services from 2nd October 2021 until 15 February 2022, there were 6,448 registrations. 5,956 applications were recorded during Operasi Pulih; 238 during Operasi Peralihan and 254 applications for Early Endemic Phase. On delivery methods, majority of the deliveries were done using motored vehicles which was 6,428, and only 20 people delivered by foot or using bicycle.

For services managed by the Postal Services Department in 2020, there were 10,755 unclaimed parcels, registered parcels and small packets. The figure continued to grow to 13,837 in the following year. From the 2-year statistics, registered items are the highest number of unclaimed parcels.
