In conjunction with Brunei Darussalam's 38th National Day Celebration, the Ministry of Defence, held a Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony which was held simultaneously at all suraus of the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF, including Pulau Baru-Baru Mosque. The focal event was at Surau Asy-Syuhada', Defence Academy of RBAF.

Present was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yussof, Second Minister of Defence. The event was held to instil love and appreciation towards the Quran among personnel of the Ministry of Defence and RBAF. A similar event was also held at Surau Ad-Difa', Bolkiah Garrison for officers and women personnel of the Ministry of Defence and RBAF.
