National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme For Children

The National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme for children between the ages of 5 to 11 began simultaneously at all vaccination centres throughout the districts yesterday. As of 2 yesterday afternoon, 666 children have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. The administration of the vaccine is intended to provide protection to children from the adverse effects of COVID-19 infection.

 

At the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex, Berakas, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health witnessed the workflow for vaccinating the children, starting from the registration process, vaccination, monitoring after vaccination until completion. Also present was Datin Seri Paduka Doctor Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md. Salleh, Deputy Minister of Education.

 

Yang Berhormat said with the encouraging response from the participation of parents, it will encourage others to come forward to give vaccinations to their children even though it is voluntarily.

 

In Tutong District, the National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme for Children was held at Dewan Seri kenangan, Tutong. Present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, Minister of Education. The Ministry of Health emphasised that the COVID-19 vaccine for children aged 5 is safe and effective.

 

According to the Ministry of Health, 12 percent of total COVID-19 patients recorded were children under 12 years old. The Ministry of Health will continue to monitor any cases if side effects occur, to ensure the safety of the vaccine recipients.

 

In Belait District, COVID-19 Vaccination for children was held at Suri Seri Begawan Hospital and Panaga Health Centre. The vaccination shots are opened voluntarily and parents or guardians can bring their children to get the vaccine on a walk-in basis or book a slot through the BruHealth app.

 

The Belalong Hall, Temburong District Community Hall Complex is the focal point for the programme. Parents and guardians are also reminded to complete the children's BruHealth account verification process in preparation for receiving the vaccine.
