Speedy Tests At A Special Rate For Airasia Passengers

SEPANG

AirAsia passengers flying in and out of KL International Airport 2 (KLIA2) from April 17 onwards will be able to undergo Covid-19 antigen rapid testing (RTK-Ag) for RM60 per person.

The “test and go” centre at Gateway@KLIA2 is operated by Century Medical Centre (CMC) Medijaya and available for pre-booking via the Medijaya website.

The service has been made possible through AirAsia Aviation Group Ltd’s partnership with CMC Medijaya, and supported by medical testing provider Pathlab.

A memorandum on the matter was signed yesterday at AirAsia RedQ by AirAsia Malaysia CEO Riad Asmat and CMC Medijaya and Pathlab group president and CEO Datuk Marcus Kam.

“This is another example of how we are working with strategic partners to take the hassle out of air travel amid the pandemic,” said Riad, adding that the service will be extended to other destinations in Malaysia and Asean in the near future.

Kam said his company is looking forward to being a key strategic partner to AirAsia, especially in helping to revive the travel industry and the Malaysian economy.

“Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, our group has been fully supportive of the government’s efforts to combat the virus, and we are now all ready to again provide our unrelenting efforts to revive the country’s economy and to return to normalcy,” he added.

AirAsia passengers have to present their boarding passes at the Medijaya health facility at Gateway@KLIA2, which is the mall at KLIA2, to enjoy this preferential rate.

The rapid test will still draw samples from the nose and/or via a throat swab, with the entire process expected to take less than five minutes. The results will be uploaded to MySejahtera within 30 minutes. Passengers will also receive an emailed copy of the results within 24 hours. For departing guests, the RT-PCR test is available at RM120 beginning April 14, not just at Gateway, but also several Medijaya facilities throughout the country.

AirAsia passengers also have the option of pre-booking the PCR test by making an advance purchase at Medijaya at Gateway before redeeming the offer at select testing facilities: Medijaya Kelana Jaya (Petaling Jaya), Medijaya Bayu Tinggi (Klang), Medijaya Pandan Indah (Kuala Lumpur), and Medijaya Johor Baru.

There are plans to extend this facility to Kota Kinabalu and Melaka.

Like the rapid test, the PCR test result will be ready within 24 hours after the swab is collected, and guests will receive results through email, while also having their MySejahtera updated.
