BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, NCD is a dominant health challenge in the 21st century worldwide including Brunei Darussalam. In this regard, the Ministry of Health continues to work to improve NCD prevention and control measures with the publication of the Multi-Sector Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases BruMAP-NCD 2021-2025. The publication of the action plan is a continuation of the publication of BruMAP-NCD 2013-2018.

Cost-effective actions recommended by the World Health Organisation, WHO as well as best practices in other countries are introduced and formulated based on the experience and findings of previous action plan evaluations. The previous action plan focused on improving health through an environment that allows for healthy choices and also through improved continuity of care for NCD patients. According to Siti Munawwarah Binti Awang Tarif, Health Education Officer, the second BruMAP-NCD 2021-2025 takes into account the most effective course of action in addressing the burden of NCDs which is heavily focused on multi-sector involvement and cooperation. Strengthening the aspect of governance whereby stakeholders comprising the government, private agencies, grassroots members play an important role in implementing the BruMAP-NCD 2021-2025 action plan so that it is more sustainable. "

The publication of BruMAP-NCD 2021-2025 also takes into account the findings of the evaluation that has been conducted as well as the feedback from various sectors in addressing NCDs. Collective and integrated cooperation in addressing health determinants is essential in order to achieve a more comprehensive and effective response for the country.
