Covid-19: Recovery Cases Almost Double New Infections On Saturday (April 23)

KUALA LUMPUR

 

A total 10,041 recoveries from Covid-19 infection were recorded in the country on Saturday (April 23) which were nearly twice the 5,624 new infections recorded.

 

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic) said the cumulative recoveries logged as of yesterday were 4,310,599.

 

"From 5,624 daily cases, 1,765 cases or 31.38 per cent were patients in category one while 3,835 cases or 68.19 per cent were in category two.

 

"Meanwhile, category three infection was detected in 12 cases (0.21 per cent) and for category four and five there were six cases each or 0.11 peratus," he said in a statement on Sunday (April 24).

 

Dr Noor Hisham said there were 89 cases requiring treatment in intensive care unit with 57 cases needing respiratory assistance.

 

He said there were 218 cases of Covid-19 awarded in hospitals with 111 cases or 50.9 per cent involving categories three, four and five while 107 cases or 49.1 per cent were in categories one and two.

 

Apart from that, one new cluster was identified, bringing the total active clusters to 99.

 

On the rate of infectivity of Covid-19 (Rt value), he said Malaysia recorded Rt of 0.77 with Putrajaya having the highest rate at 1.10. – Bernama
