KOTA KINABALU, SABAH

Police seized 20 tablet computers and a laptop during a raid on an illegal cyber gambling outlet in Inanam Central here on Thursday.

The 9.20pm raid also saw four people, including the caretaker of the premises, aged 21 and 55, being roped in for investigation.

City police chief ACP M. Chandra said the raid was made following a tip-off about an illegal cyber gambling activity in the area.

“A police team from the D7 raided the premises, under Ops Dadu, after receiving information on an illegal gambling activity taking place inside the premises.

“A total of 20 computer tablets, a laptop, a broadband and RM1,060 in cash were seized, while three customers and a caretaker were also detained during the raid,” he said yesterday.

He said the seized items and the suspects were taken to the city police headquarters for further investigation under Section 4B (a) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.

Chandra also thanked the public for their continuous cooperation with the police to combat illegal gambling in the state capital.
