HRH Sufri Bolkiah Urge Sepak Takraw Team to Stay Focused

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, the President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC), has urged the national sepak takraw team to stay resolute and focused, while competing in the 5th Asean Beach Games.
His Royal Highness' sabda was delivered during the national flag handover ceremony at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, and read out by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
"Although the country's participation is only in sepak takraw this year, I believe that these selected athletes are the most competent and experienced, with a keen competitive spirit to defend their team title," said His Royal Highness in his sabda.
Brunei won a gold medal in the sepak takraw event, at the 4th Asean Beach Games in Thailand, in 2014.
His Royal Highness also called on the team members to project themselves as a strong and committed unit during the competition.
"'This is the spirit that our athletes should strive fol. in order to achieve excellence and make the country proud," he said.
The Asian Beach games is held on a biennial basis, with Vietnam is host country this year, to one of the mainn council of Asia Programmes in the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) calendar.
During yesterday's handover ceremony, the minister presented the national flag to Kifli bin Haji Jaafar, the Chef De Mission for the Brunei contingent. The 10-member delegation will depart for Da Nang, Vietnam, on September 21.
Also present during the handover ceremony was Dato Paduka Dr Haji Affendy bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
