Second Batch of Brunei Pilgrims Receive Emotional Welcome

Hundreds of family members gathered at the Brunei International Airport yesterday to welcome home the second group of I laj pilgrims, after three weeks of I fulfilling their religious duties in the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.
A specially charted flight on board Royal Brunei Airlines B14216, landed at the airport at 3.40pm, after a delay of several hours behind its scheduled time.
The flight carried Haj pilgrims who were travelling with Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd, as well as several medical officers.
Also present to welcome the pilgrims were Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin . bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Board of Director for the Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB); Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs; and Haji Harun bin Haji Junid and Roslan bin Haji Taja'ah, the Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
A Doa Selamat was read by Mudim Haji Amran bin Haji Md Salleh, as a token of gratitude for the safe return of the pilgrims
Tears of joy and relief filled the atmosphere, when the pilgrims finally appeared at the arrival hall.
Among them was 23-year-old Haji Mohammad Firdaus bin Haji Ahmad, who expressed his thanks to the Department if Haj Management and to Darussalam Holdings, for their excellent service and assistance in the twin holy cities.
Haji Mohammad Firdaus also told the Bulletin that the journey he made with his parents was a memorable, life-changing experience which exposed them to a diverse mix of races and cultures from around the world.
