Head of the External Relations Commission of the Party Central Committee, Ms Sounthone Sayachack led government officials and Vientiane residents in a walk to mark the International Day of Peace (Sep 21) on Sep 18 in Vientiane Capital.

The walk began early Saturday morning at Patouxay Park and participants marched along Lane Xang Avenue, turning around at the Presidential Palace (Horkham).

The objective of the activity was to raise awareness among people of all ages of the importance of promoting peace and other related developments in the country, the region and the world at large.

The United Nations' (UN) International Day of Peace is celebrated on Sep 21 each year to recognize the efforts of those who have worked hard to end conflicts and promote peace.

The International Day of Peace is also a day of ceasefire – both personal and political.
