IPOH

An eight-year-old girl has died due to suspected abuse, says Datuk Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid.

The Perak police chief said the girl was brought to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital on Sunday (May 15) by an ambulance and was pronounced dead at about 1.45am.

"Checks on the body found injuries believed to be from abuse.

"The medical officer of the hospital then lodged a report at about 3.15am," he said in a statement.

"Post-mortem conducted on the body determined the cause of death to be multiple blunt-force injuries," he added.

Comm Mior Faridalathrash said the case would be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

He said the police had arrested the victim's guardians, a married couple aged 40, here at about 3.50pm.

"They will be brought to court to obtain a remand order to facilitate investigations.

"Those with information related to the case are to get in touch with investigating officer Asst Supt S. Dasarathan at 012-564 4484 to help with the investigation," he added.
