Laos, Vietnam Enhance Cooperation On Information

The Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos and the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications have agreed to continue strengthening cooperation on information exchanges.

 

A Memorandum of Understanding on information cooperation for 2016-2020 was signed by Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos Mr Bosengkham Vongdara, and Vietnamese Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan in Vientiane Capital on Sept 20.

 

The agreement was made during a working visit to Laos from Sept 18-21 by Mr Tuan and his delegation.

 

The MoU aims to further strengthen cooperation in the exchange of information for 2016-2020 between Laos and Vietnam in the fields of newspaper, print media and the broadcasting of domestic and world news.

 

The contract also covers the exchange of radio, television programmes and technical terms of information, culture and tourism for the mutual benefits of both countries.

 

Mr Bosengkham expressed satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation over past years and highlighted that in recent years, the information cooperation between Laos and Vietnam has been progressive and successful in many fields. The most recent successes were the implementation of radio and TV stations in the provinces of Oudomxay and Savannakhet thanks to bilateral cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.

 

The ongoing implementation of radio and TV projects in the provinces of Luang Prabang and Champassak will receive additional facilities if the Vietnamese government considers upgrading from an analogue to a digital system, he said.

 

The two ministries will further promote the exchange of visits and information, according to the MoU.
