The close ties of friendship between Brunei Darussalam and the United Kingdom lies at the heart of the two countries' bilateral relationship. Brunei Darussalam has now become the ASEAN Country Coordinator, helping the United Kingdom further deepen their relationship with ASEAN. His Excellency John Virgoe, British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam stated the matter during Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second's 96th Birthday Anniversary and Platinum Jubilee Celebration. The event was held yesterday afternoon at the British High Commissioner Residence in Kampung Kota Batu.

Representing the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the reception was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs. His Excellency John Virgoe said defence relations between both countries were also deepened through the huge contribution made in supporting the Ministry of Health's COVID-19 response.
