President Visits Saysettha Development Zone

VIENTIANE, LAOS
President Choummaly Sayasone on Thursday visited the Saysettha Development Zone which is being developed to be a one-stop administrative services and electronic management centre.
The president was received by Deputy Minister and Vice President of the Lao National Committee for Special Economic Zones (NCSEZ) Bouatha Khattiya and the Board of Directors of the zone.
Ms Bouatha informed President Choummaly that the NCSEZ will continue to support this zone by helping transforming it into a one-stop administrative services and electronic management hub to attract local and overseas investment.
More companies are flocking to invest in Saysettha Development Zone following the realisation of the great potential of the zone to benefit from the regional integration.
Some 30 local and foreign companies are now investing in the zone which has registered capital of US$350 million.
Agriculture, construction, energy and logistics are the most interesting sectors to investors.
Ms Bouatha expressed her belief that the zone would become a main economic driver in the industrial and service sectors in the country.
The development of the Saysettha Development Zone is part of the government's policy to boost economic growth and job creation for local people.
The Saysettha Development Zone is being developed by the Laos-China Joint Venture Investment Company to be a centre equipped with a large residential area, public parks and green spaces, and other facilities.
The zone, which has been developed since 2010, covers an area of 1,149 ha and is located between Saysettha and Saythany districts.
There are ten economic zones in Laos including the Savan-Seno Special Economic Zone in Savannakhet, the Boten Denkham Specific Economic Zone in Luang Namtha, the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone in Bokeo, the Vientiane-Nonthong Industrial and Trade Parkland, the That Luang Marsh Specific Economic Zone, and the Long Thanh Golf Course in Vientiane Capital, the Phoukhiao Specific Economic Zone in Khammuan, the Dongphosy Special Economic Zone in Vientiane Capital, the Thakhek Specific Economic Zone in Khammuan, and the Pakxe-Japan Specific Economic Zone in Champassak.
