Three operations by the Royal Customs and Excise Department through the Law Enforcement Division were conducted recently at several places in Brunei Muara District and Belait District.

In the operation carried out at two houses in Jalan Beribi, four foreign men were arrested for possessing 2 cartons, 19 packets and 19 sticks of cigarettes of various brands.

Meanwhile, the second operation at a house in Jalan Jaya Negara, Belait District, a local man was arrested for possessing 128 cartons, 19 packets and 12 sticks of cigarettes of various brands as well as 3 boxes of firecrackers and fireworks.

As a result of the third operation at a house and two stalls in Kampung Mata-Mata, Gadong, two men and a local woman were arrested for possessing 67 cartons, 40 packets and 32 sticks cigarettes of various brands as well as cash amounting $78 believed to be proceeds from the sale of customs contraband. All contraband were confiscated and the individuals involved were taken to the Law Enforcement Office for further investigation.
