The Baitulmal governance during the reign of Khalifah 'Umar bin 'Abdul 'Aziz until the establishment of a blessed Islamic nation can be adapted and applied to modern Islamic governance. This was discussed at the Islamic Economic Forum titled 'Pengupayaan Ekonomi Negara Islam: Sorotan Pengurusan Perbendaharaan Negara Pada Zaman Pemerintahan Khalifah 'Umar bin 'Abdul 'Aziz". Organised by the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA through the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Finance, the forum was held in conjunction with the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition, MYCE 2022, and took place at the International Convention Centre, Berakas.
Earlier, 2 books published by the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Finance, UNISSA were launched by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy; and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Doctor Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism.
The Islamic Economic Forum featuring local and invited panellists from Malaysia discussed Islamic economy's sources of income during the reign of the caliphate that can be adapted today.
