BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

In developing and promoting innovative educational resource materials for Southeast Asian History, the Curriculum Development Department launched the 'Understanding Shared Histories in Southeast Asia' Resource Book. The book is intended to be utilised by teachers in providing exposure, fostering awareness and understanding to students about the historical and cultural similarities of the country and the Southeast Asian region. The Launching Ceremony took place yesterday afternoon at Tarindak D'Seni in the capital.

The launch was officiated by Awang Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Core Education at the Ministry of Education. The launch of the book is the result of the 'Promoting Intercultural Dialogue and A Culture of Peace in Southeast Asia through Shared Histories' project organised by the 'United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO' in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. The ceremony coincided with the presentation of certificates of appreciation, books and souvenirs to the Resource Book Production Committee. The resource book will be distributed to all Government and Private Secondary Schools as well as Arabic Schools. It is also available at the Curriculum Development Department bookstore.
