BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The society needs better understanding on the importance of psychological first aid to prevent mental illness. In order to raise awareness on the importance of psychological first aid, the Brunei Red Crescent Society in collaboration with Singapore Red Cross Academy are introducing a comprehensive Psychological First Aid Course for the very first time to 19 officers, certified first responders and representatives from corporate partners as well as health officers from the Ministry of Health. The 5-day course enabled them to become certified psychological first responders. A certificate presentation ceremony was held for the participants at the Brunei Red Crescent Society's headquarters in Kampung Bunut, 17th September morning.

Certificates were presented by Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yussof bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, President of Brunei Red Crescent Society. Brunei Red Crescent Society as co-chair of the multi-sector mental health national framework committee will establish a Mental Health Resource and Psychosocial Support Centre. The centre will be equipped with pre-clinical assessment on mental health first aid. A more professional training in psychosocial support, psychological and mental health first aid will also be actively provided in collaboration with Singapore Red Cross Academy.
