Chicken Meat without Halal Import Permit

​Enforcement officers from the Halal Food Control Division, Syari'ah Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Royal Customs and Excise Department, Ministry of Finance and Economy conducted a joint operation on 3rd October 2022 at a commercial building in Kampung Kiarong.
60.4 kilogrammes of chicken tails and 10 kilogrammes of raw chicken wings were found in a vehicle's trunk, believed to be smuggled into the country without a Halal Import Permit. The chicken meat were confiscated and the case handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further investigation and action. Companies wishing to import meat into the country are reminded to obtain the Halal Import Permit from the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, apart from meeting the conditions set by other agencies related to the importation of halal meat.
