(KPL) The ongoing construction of an international airport in Tonpheung district, Laos’ Bokeo province, is now 86 per cent complete and expected to open for domestic use and international travel in 2023.

The new airport is located close to the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone and covers 300 ha. It will be the second airport in Bokeo province in addition to the existing small airport located in the provincial capital, Huayxai district.

Once this project is completed, it will help to promote the transportation work and air transportation within Bokeo Province as well as in Laos and the neighboring countries to be strong and able to link well with the international community and also create conditions to facilitate investment in tourism both domestically and internationally in the future.
