His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam received in audience His Excellency Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of General Staff of the Viet Nam People's Army and Deputy Minister of National Defence of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. In the field of defence, Brunei Darussalam and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation in 2005. Both countries enjoy a close and longstanding bilateral defence relationship which includes visits, professional exchanges, exercises, training and courses.

His Majesty received His Excellency Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong. The audience ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman, 5th November afternoon.
