FANADIK

It turns out spelling ‘HELP’ in the sand works in real life and not just the movies.

Three men who were stuck on the uninhabited island of Fanadik, in Micronesia, proved that when they were rescued after scrawling the letters on the ground.

The US Navy and Coast Guard found them on Thursday after coming across the plea.

‘Our combined efforts coupled with the willingness of many different resources to come together and help, led to the successful rescue of these three men in a very remote part of the Pacific,’ a Coast Guard spokesman said.

The men had been stuck for three days when their 19-foot skiff boat capsized after setting out to sea from Pulap.

They have now been returned to safety.
