Malaysia Festival 2022 Held In Vientiane

VIENTIANE

(KPL) Festival Malaysia 2022 was held at PARKSON Mall, Vientiane this week in the presence of Vice Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Ounthoung Kaophanh and Charge d’ Affaires of Malaysia to Laos, Ms  Qairunnisa MD Allas.

“I am happy to see all of you here – that all of us can gather together and celebrate the Malaysia Festival once again after a long wait because of the pandemic,” said Ms Qairunnisa MD Allas.

“The Festival in the past coincided with the Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebrations, it was a celebration of not only Malaysia’s independence but a celebration of Malaysia as a family. Today, together with our Lao hosts and friends, as well as all our other friends, we will celebrate it once again,” said she. As we all know, the tourism sector in many countries including Malaysia has been significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Inbound tourism ground came to a halt as countries closed their borders and restricted travel to control the spread of the virus, while the number of domestic tourists plunged due to the Movement Control Orders (MCO).

In light of the global easing of travel restrictions, Malaysia has set a new target of receiving 9.2 million international tourist arrivals with RM 26.8 billion in tourism receipts for 2022 after surpassing the earlier target of 4.5 million tourist arrivals with RM11.1 billion in tourism receipts.

Tourism Malaysia team main backbone of this initiative, thank you for supporting the Embassy to host this event once again.  Special thanks to our sponsors and contributors who have helped with the various raffle prizes and towards the running of this Festival.

As Malaysia’s first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, once remarked, Malaysians must always remember that unity is our fundamental strength as people, and as a nation. And we are here today to show the best of Malaysia, our warmth, and our hospitality. So please enjoy the things that we have to offer today from the delicious and Malaysian cuisines, tourism packages to artistic traditional performances.
