Integrity at Work

Islam teaches the ummah to always safeguard their morals and integrity. Islam also forbids the ummah from neglecting their responsibilities, insincere in carrying out their duties, untrustworthy in conveying secrets related to work, misbehaving in their duties which may lead to violations of rules and laws and result in criminal offences such as corruption. These were among the matters highlighted in yesterday's Friday Sermon titled Integrity at Work.
The sermon also emphasised that every employees must have integrity as they are the machinery that towards accomplishing the vision, mission and goals with efficient and effective services. The Imam or Prayer Leader said integrity is a noble and commendable moral virtue that must be applied in daily life. Integrity refers to a person's identity and values such as honesty, trustworthy, sincere, responsible, fair, disciplined and not easily influenced. These characters are very important at work and must be present in every employees, either in public sector, private sector, public bodies or private individuals. An employee with integrity also portrays a sincere, committed and dedicated individual that obeys work ethics, rules and laws. From the perspective of corruption prevention, people with integrity will not be easily bribed even if the bribe is in the form of money or valuable goods. They are not easily influenced by gifts.
