SERASA, BRUNEI-MUARA

Morton Jakobsen from Royal Varuna Club Thailand emerged victorious yesterday at the Royal Brunei Yacht Club (RBYC) Brunei Laser Open Championship at Serasa Clubhouse.

A total of 17 sailors from Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sailing Club, Kuala Belait Boat Club, Piasau Boat Club Miri, and Royal Varuna Club Thailand battled through the windy conditions on the second day of the race, including brothers Lim Jerm Kiat and Lim Jenn Hau, who represented Brunei in 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games sailing competition last year.

"I'm pleased to find talented Sailors here ' in Brunei, who gave me a tough challenge," he said after his win in the Laser Standard class and overall championship.

Tied in second place were Beng Wee and Barney Sandon from Royal Brunei Yacht Club (RBYC).

Royal Brunei Yacht Club (RBYC) sailor John Pletdon placed third.
