BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar All Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam bade farewell to His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of the State of Kuwait, at the Brunei International Airport yesterday upon conclusion of His Highness the Air of Kuwait's two-day state visit to the Sultanate.

Also present at the airport was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Zillah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office.

His Highness the Amir of Kuwait was accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik as the Royal-in-Attendance from Qasr Muniq to the Brunei International Airport.

His Majesty and His Highness the Amir of Kuwait proceeded to walk past the static guard of honour mounted by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

During the two-day state visit, a number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were inked between the two countries that covered the fields of higher education and scientific research, tourism coordination, training for staff at both foreign ministries and establishing a joint cooperation commission.

The two sides also signed an agreement on exempting holders of diplomatic passports from the two countries from entry visas and a protocol modifying the previously inked agreement on averting double taxation and evading tax liabilities.

Brunei established diplomatic relations with Kuwait in 1990 and is due to host the 3rd biennial Kuwait-Brunei Joint Committee meeting in the capital in December this year.

Also present to bid farewell to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait were Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Education as the Minister-in-
Attendance, and Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II.
