Both the president and the prime minister emphasised on ensuring joyful and safe Tết celebrations for the people.

President Nguyễn Xuân Phúc and Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính respectively visited Đắk Lắk and Nam Định provinces on Sunday, reviewing the local situation ahead of the Tết holiday and presented gifts to disadvantaged workers.

During his visit to the Đắk Lắk Province Border Guard Command, President Nguyễn Xuân Phúc sent his regards to the local forces on the occasion of Tết (Lunar New Year) and reviewed the patrol plans during the holiday.

Emphasising that Đắk Lắk is located at the centre of the strategic area of the Central Highlands, holding great significance in the country’s political and socio-economic situation and national defence and security, the State leader said that Đắk Lắk border forces have been performing well to protect the territorial and border security.

He added that the local Party Committee and Border Guard Command must stay ready in protecting the national borders, cooperating with other forces in fighting and preventing crimes, while also ensuring warm and joyful Tết celebrations.

The president also required more focus on building the forces with good political qualities, ethics and expertise, as well as a strong understanding of their stationed area and its people.

He stressed that the border guard forces need to effectively conduct diplomatic work in national defence, contributing to a border region of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development, alongside programmes to improve the local communities.

President Phúc also paid a visit and presented Tết gifts to Đắk Lắk workers in difficult circumstances.

On the same day, Prime Minister (PM) Phạm Minh Chính attended a Tết celebration programme for workers, union members and people of the northern Nam Định Province.

Speaking at the event, the PM congratulated the locality on its achievement in 2022 and wished them a new year of success, joy, and good health, with more socio-economic achievements than the previous year.

In the immediate future, the province is required to ensure joyful, safe and healthy Tết celebrations for locals, especially policy beneficiaries and underprivileged people with the aim of having no one left behind, said the PM.

He also noted that during the holiday season, authorities and the people must ensure traffic safety and fire prevention, no transporting or trading of explosives, as well as disease prevention and public safety and order.

At the event, PM Chính and the Việt Nam General Confederation of Labour, the Central Committee of Việt Nam Fatherland Front and Nam Định Province gave Tết gifts to 200 union members, workers and families of difficult circumstances in the locality.

The Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development and Vietnam National Petroleum Group also presented their sponsorships to the province. — VNS
