A 36-year-old woman managed to escape to safety after the car she was driving suddenly caught fire along Jalan Kulas, near the Jalan Satok flyover around 8.10am today.

Raging flames could be seen shooting out of the windscreen and front driver’s side window.

The fire also compounded morning rush hour traffic in the area.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the vehicle’s engine bay was totally destroyed by the fire, while most of the rest of the car managed to be saved.

By using a single hose reel with water sourced from their fire truck, the flames were fully extinguished by 8.47am.

Bomba is still investigating the cause of the fire.
