In a bid to promote the spirit of volunteerism and encouraging more people to get involved in community, development, a charity drive was organised by Dayangku Noratul Ain binti Pengiran Musa, who is a graduate student in Masters in Counselling.
A group comprising students from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), primary school students, as well as government and private sector employees, visited three less fortunate families in Kampong Ujung Bukit, Kampong Batong and Kampong Kota Batu.
According to Dayangku Noratul Ain, getting children involved in these sort of charity events is a good thing as they would be made more aware of issues that we are facing in our community.
"We need to be proactive. We ourselves have the power to change. All it takes is to take the leap and just like a ripple effect, it'll grow from small to big," Dayangku Noratul Ain said, adding that she is currently conducting a research on how to eradicate poverty by exploring the mentality of the less fortunate. She hopes that the charity drive would help the general public understand the root causes of poverty.
