Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian met with data experts of OCTA Research to work together for the recalibration of government social protection programs and services based on current data trends.
The meeting held on Feb. 13 aims to create data-driven social protection packages that will address development issues in the Philippines, particularly hunger and poverty problems.
OCTA is a team of researchers that uses surveys to gather insightful data to prepare for analysis.
During the meeting, OCTA president Ranjit Rye and OCTA chief data scientist Guido David presented significant findings from their surveys that can serve as a basis for creating and formulating mechanisms and systems for social protection.
The meeting with OCTA Research is in line with Gatchalian’s priorities to enhance social protection by maximizing the use of available data.
