HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday received in audience Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the President of the Republic of the Philippines, who is in the country on a three-day state visit.

 

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam welcomed President Duterte on arrival at Istana Nurul Iman.

 

 

Accompanying the president from Istana Edinburgh to Istana Nurul Iman was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, as. Personal Representative of His Majesty.

 

 

The monarch, together with President Duterte, proceeded to the dais to receive the 'Salute of Honour', which was followed by the national anthems of both countries and a 21-gun salute. The two leaders then inspected the guard of honour mounted by the Royal Brunei Land Forces and Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

 

 

The President of the Republic of the Philippines was then introduced to members of the royal family; state dignitaries; Cabinet Ministers; deputy ministers; Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force; Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; foreign envoys in Brunei Darussalam; as well as permanent secretaries at the Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

 

 

His Majesty was also introduced to members of the delegation of President Duterte.
