A teacher has been left in floods of tears after one set of parents hurled abuse at her when she was discussing their son's behaviour during a parents evening session.

She was talking to the mum and dad at a parent's evening and just told them the truth of how their kid had been behaving badly, but they were not impressed and caused a scene, even calling her 'disrespectful'.

The teacher later broke down in tears to her head of year for 10 minutes over the incident and feels relieved that she plans to leave the profession soon.

In the Mumsnet post where she shared her nightmare teaching moment, she added that she had been in work from 7am-7pm that day so was exhausted.

The teacher, who remained anonymous, wrote: "I told them how their kid behaved. I was not the only one. But I got the brunt of the parental rant, saying they disrespected me as a person and criticising every interaction I ever had with their child.

"I held it together well in front of them, but I sought the Head of Year afterwards and broke down in tears in the 10 minutes I had between then and the next appointment (which were meant to last seven minutes, not the 25 those parents took).

"Thank God I am quitting soon. But here I am, having a big drink so I can sleep, too exhausted to do much else, because I was in school from 7am to 7.30pm."

In response, many have sided with her and said those parents were well out of line and should have been more respectful to the teacher.

One person wrote: "You're not being unreasonable. Nobody should have to put up with that at work."

Another stated: "This is partly why so many are leaving the profession. It's awful. I'm glad you're getting out."

A third penned: "That's totally awful and not right at all. What are you going to do instead? I'm a teacher too, had some delightful parental abuse myself this year but yours sounds worse!"

"It's like you have to put on an Oscar winning performance everyday. So stressful," noted another.
