10 Transpo Groups In NCR Will Not Join Strike, LTFRB Says

Majority of the transport groups operating in Metro Manila will not join the planned week-long transport strike that will start on Monday, March 6, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said.

 

In a statement, the LTFRB-National Capital Region said 10 transport groups have already signed a statement and resolution opposing the transport strike and denying that they are affiliated with Manibela, the group which announced the strike.

 

The transport groups that will not join in the transport strike, according to the LTFRB, are  NCR Transport Consolidated Entities which has 680 transport cooperatives and 68,00 units; the Alliance of Transport Operators’ & Drivers’ Association of the Philippines (ALTODAP); Liga ng Transportasyon at Operators sa Pilipinas (LTOP) and Alliance of Concerned Transport Organization (ACTO).

 

Others are Pasang Masda (PM) Jeepney, Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (FEJODAP), Stop and Go Coalition, Senate Employees Transport Service Cooperative (SETSCO) and the UV Express National Alliance of the Philippines (UV Express).

 

The LTFRB-NCR said the 1o transport groups have already expressed support to the PUV Modernization program being pushed by the national government.

 

LTFRB-NCR Regional Director Atty. Zona Russet M. Tamayo, ang LTFRB-NCR expressed gratitude to the 10 transport groups.
