While the Legends of Tomorrow probably won't be going back to 1942 any time soon, it won't necessarily be the last time we see the Justice Society of America on the CW.

For starters, we already know that Vixen (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) is joining the team. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim says we'll find out how that happens immediately in next week's episode.

"I think you have a clue to it in Rex's final words to her," he teases. "I think, if you're Vixen and you've got Rex Tyler dying in your arms and you hear the words 'time traveler,' who would you think is responsible?"

Plus, there's also the option to meet older versions of the JSA members. "We do go back to 1987 and we'll meet a much older version of Obsidian, who's going to be played by Lance Henriksen," Guggenheim says. "That's one way. And then we have another device up our sleeves that I don't want to spoil!"

In the meantime, the Legends' objective remains the same as ever, despite the fact that they're missing a key member of the team, Arthur Darvill's Rip Hunter. "That's going to be something that's always going on in the background and, in some cases, the foreground of various episodes," Guggenheim says.

"We don't want to change the mission statement from fixing aberrations to going and saving Rip, but that's been taken out of their hands in the sense that there's no way to find Rip, so what would they do? Even if they said this is priority number one is finding Rip, I don't know how they would go about it given the nature of Rip's disappearance."

It might be a little while until the Legends find out where Rip is, but Guggenheim promises that the audience will find out before the superheroes do.

Another story we'll see unfold is Sara's role as team leader. "I've got to give a lot of props to Caity Lotz. As you start to see [Sara] more and more comfortable with being the leader of this ragtag group, it's so much fun to watch her," Guggenheim says.

"The character's embodying the role of a leader. Caity's performance really embraces it. I think it turns out to be one of the most successful things we've done in season two. I'm really excited about it."
