Brunei's 43rd SSEAYP Delegates Receives National Flags From Minister

The handing over of the national flag to the Brunei Darussalam contingent of the 43rd Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Programme (SSEAYP) took place yesterday at the VIP room of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.
Attending as the guest of honour was Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The ceremony started with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat followed with speeches by Haji Zafri bin Haji Mohamed, Acting Director of Youth and Sports; and Pengiran Kamal Ariffin bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Yassin, national leader of the contingent.
This was followed with Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi delivering words of advice to the contingent which comprised 13 males and 14 females.
Pengiran Kamal Ariffin then received the national flag from Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi and air tickets from Noriko Iki, Ambassador of Japan to Brunei Darussalam.
SSEAYP is an international youth exchange programme for Asean member countries and Japan since 1974 with the objectives to generate international understanding and cooperation among Asean youths and Japan apart from learning the culture, politics and economic development of a country.
This year marks Brunei's 31st participation in the event since it first participated in 1985.The programme this year will be running for 51 days from October 25 to December 15.
A total of 330 youths from 11 countries will be on board the Nippon Maru ship this year where the ship will make stops at several countries namely Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia before reaching in Japan.
The national leaders will also have the opportunity to visit Cambodia during the visit programme in Thailand.
