A woman has revealed her disgust as her colleagues are openly weighing themselves in front of each other in the office - all while management 'doesn't seem bothered' about the issue
It's an unwritten rule that you should never comment on another person's weight - or their clothing size for that matter. While some people may feel comfortable discussing the matter, they should be wary that it can be triggering to others.
One woman has shared her disgust after discovering that set of scales is making its rounds around the office. She says that a group of approximately 20 colleagues are weighing themselves in front of each other, and she's dreading being asked to join in.
Shockingly, she says management doesn't see an issue with the bizarre office trend. Taking to popular forum site Mumsnet, the woman explained: "I work in an office with around 20 other people. A colleague has started bringing in scales so that he and others can weigh themselves in front of others."
The woman went on: "Everyone stands in a circle around the scales and watches while they take it in turns weighing themselves.
"So far I have managed to avoid being asked to weigh myself in front of others - perhaps because I am overweight.
"Management doesn't seem bothered and are even joining in with the weighing.
"Not really sure why posting, just wanted to hear what others think," she added.
Since sharing, the woman's post has raked in 300 comments to date - where people were divided over the actions.
One person wrote: "That's not on, if they want to do it they should go somewhere private not out in the office in front of everyone.
"That could be incredibly triggering for anyone who has or has had an eating disorder," they added.
Meanwhile, someone else defended the decision: "We did that in my last workplace. Join in or don't?"
