Sunat Aidilfitri Prayer

​Takbir, tahmid and tasbih resounded nationwide as a show of gratitude towards Allah Subahanahu Wata'ala for giving Muslims in the country the opportunity to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The celebration began with the Sunat Aidilfitri Prayer at all mosques, suraus and religious halls nationwide. His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam joined citizens and residents in performing the Sunat Aidilfitri prayer at the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital, 22nd April morning. Upon arrival, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs; and Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence.

 

Also present was His Majesty's sons:

 

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office;

 

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik;

 

- And His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

 

The Sunat Hari Raya Aidilfitri Prayer was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.

 

In the first Khutbah or Sermon, Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs touched on forgiveness. Meanwhile, the second Sermon reminded Muslims to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri in moderation.

 

Before leaving the Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque, His Majesty and members of the Royal Family received junjung ziarah from the congregants.
