His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, this afternoon received in audience His Excellency Dr. Mohamad Maliki bin Osman, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for Education and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore, who is on a four-day visit to Brunei Darussalam.

Accompanying His Excellency were His Excellency Heng Aik Yeow, High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam; The Honourable Rahayu Mahzam, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Law; and The Honourable Yip Hon Weng, Member of Parliament.

Also present were Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence; and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The visit reflects the special and unique friendship between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore. During his stay in the country, His Excellency also visited the open houses of Yang Berhormat Cabinet Ministers and dignitaries.

The Audience Ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman.

During the audience ceremony, His Excellency conveyed Hari Raya greetings of Her Excellency Halimah Yacob, President of the Republic of Singapore and His Excellency Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore to His Majesty.

His Majesty and His Excellency also discussed opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore, such as progress in the fields of economy, education and defence. Discussions also focused on regional and international issues of mutual importance to both countries, including cooperation within ASEAN.
