Recall of Instant Noodles

 April 28th, 2023  |  08:29 AM  |   526 views

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The Brunei Darussalam Food Authority, BDFA has informed about the recall of Ah Lai White Curry Noodles from Malaysia and Indomie: Special Chicken Flavour noodles by Taipei's Department of Health.

The recall of the two products is following the results of lab tests that reported the presence of a type of pesticide, ethylene oxide, in the products. The BDFA has contacted the importers who registered the instant noodle brand in Brunei Darussalam and have confirmed that the affected brands have not been imported into the country. Ethylene oxide is a pesticide that is not authorised for use in food and long term exposure may lead to health issues. The BDFA reminds that under the Public Health, Food Act, Chapter 182, any person who prepares, sells or imports a food item that can harm health can be imprisoned for 5 years or fined or both.
