The train passenger was slammed online when a video of his behaviour was shared online, where commenters criticised him for his lack of 'decorum' and common sense

Whether or not you think tables should be reserved for groups, or armrests should be shared by strangers, there's one thing most train passengers always agree on: you should keep your feet off the seats.

Nobody wants to sit down somewhere you've placed your dirty trainers, so it is best to keep them on the floor to be considerate of other travellers. Or at least, this is the message hundreds of social media users tried to convey to one passenger after a video of his controversial behaviour went viral on TikTok.

In a clip shared by an account named @strajca, a man can be seen laughing as he walks his feet across an empty seat.

All the while, a fellow train user appears to look annoyed, but the man continues and films his efforts. Although it is unclear who the anonymous man in the video is, or if he is connected to @strajca, the passenger might change his mind about his behaviour after the response the video received.

Replying to the footage captioned "welcome to Switzerland," thousands of people commented on his behaviour after the video reached five million viewers and several offered criticism.

One person wrote: "No decorum." A second agreed: "Like where is the decorum."

Someone else put: "My pet peeve -have manners simple," and another commented: "I don't hate people but...."

However, other viewers defended the passenger. For instance, one put: "Who care his shoes are clean."

Meanwhile, someone who saw both sides of the debate replied: "I get it. It's rude. But she's not sitting there and it doesn't look very full."

A different commenter advised: "I just usually put a bag or hoodie and then put my feet there."

And a third warned: "Be careful, that can get you a fine."
