(KPL/Prensa Latina) Russia will resume regular flights to Cuba starting on July 1, the vice president of that country's Government, Dmitri Chernyshenko, who is visiting this capital, announced.
In statements to reporters, the official informed that the decision responds to a presidential order, and that the corresponding directive was sent to Aeroflot.
Aeroflot Executive Director Sergei Alexandrovsky informed that the regular flights that will cover this route will be operated by Rossiya Airlines, a subsidiary of Aeroflot, and ticket sales will be opened within a week, according to RT channel.
In his statements to journalists, Chernyshenko stressed that Cuba is Russia’s key partner in Central America and the Caribbean and advocated further development of bilateral economic relations in all areas.
Direct flights between the two nations have been suspended since March 2022 due to sanctions imposed by several European countries on Russia after the start of the special military operation in Ukraine.
In September, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (ROSAVIATSIA) confirmed that airlines were planning to resume direct flights to Cuba in the near future, and in October, a major tour operator, Pegas Touristik, in association with the charter company Nordwind Airlines, resumed flights to Varadero and Cayo Coco, in Cuba.
The experts and scientists ratified the safety that characterizes Cuba’s vaccines against Covid-19, firstly due to the very nature of the technological platforms used, and secondly because they have high thermo-stability. Unlike others that require special conditions for storage, at freezing temperatures, Cuba’s vaccines can be stored between two and eight degrees Celsius.
During the clinical studies, an efficacy higher than 90 percent was demonstrated, but the most important evidence was the impact on reducing contagions in Cuba as of October 2021, when 60 percent of the population had been immunized Abdala and Soberana.
Cuba is today among the world’s top 10 countries with most citizens immunized against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which, including its pediatric population, raising the level of protection to more than 90 percent of Cuban inhabitants.
