OBBD Trainers Left for Singapore

BERAKAS, BRUNEI-MUARA
Four trainers from Outward Bound Brunei Darussalam (OBBD) yesterday left for Singapore to attend an advanced training programme at the Outward Bound Singapore (OBS), which will be held from April 12 to May 9, 2016.
Present to bid the trainers farewell at the Brunei International Airport was Awang Haji Rosmadee bin Haji Mohd Daud, the Acting Director of Youth and Sports Development, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS).
Participation in the Short-Term Training Programme to acquire skills and qualifications is a key requirement to qualify as a standard coach in any Outward Bound School centre worldwide, including OBBD.
During the programme, trainers will cover a wide range of Outward Bound activities and modules with the assisted of coaches from member countries registered with Outward Bound International (OBI).
The programme also aims to improve relations and networking among coaches, especially in sharing their knowledge and experience in the field of coaching at Outward Bound.
Among the modules that will be followed throughout the programme include training on Hard Skill (technical skills for high-risk activities) and Soft Skill (theory of Outward Bound learning methods, such as facilitation technique, presentation, group control, risk management in outdoor activities, safety and reserve, law and ethics in outdoor activities) .
The modules will be delivered by experts and coaches recognised by international bodies from the United States, United Kingdom and Singapore.
Such training is one of the strategies of the MCYS through its Human Resource Unit and OBBD to ensure a high level of excellence and that set standards are followed, in addition to enhancing the professionalism and workmanship skills of OBBD coaches, particularly to implement, develop and design programmes that are safer and of better quality.
